Diet

Dan's first week on the diet was a huge success. He lost 6 pounds! It's amazing how a change in diet and dusting the cobwebs off the eliptical can really get this weight loss thing going.

I am going to attempt to run tonight. Going to start out slow with just about 1.5 miles.

Family Picture

Finn's assignment for school was to bring in a family picture. Having just added a new member to the family, it occurred to me that the O'Toole's have not yet gotten a picture of all of us together. So we all dressed up in our Hawkeye gear today and took the first official family picture with Patrick. Sorry, Payton, we had to leave you out. It was hard enough to set the timer on the camera and get Finn to cooperate. No worries, part of the assignment was also to bring in a picture of his pet, so Payton has not been forgotten (just slightly neglected)!

Cousins

Tonight we got all four cousins together for the first time. I can't imagine how crazy these kids are going to be when Patrick and Taylor start moving around. Finn and Molly had a great time with the sticker books that Mimi and Papa brought, and they also enjoyed using Dan as a jungle gym. The babies...well they ate, slept and pooped.
P.S. Happy Birthday, Auntie Shannon!

Diet

After 1 week on the diet, I am happy to report the following:

Karen - 5 lbs (Imagine what it could have been if so many friends didn't bring over deliciously unhealthy meals over the last 2 weeks!)

Dan - 0 lbs (In his defense, he finally did his initial weigh in tonight)

First Bath

Patrick sort of liked his first bath until he realized he was hungry. It was all downhill from there. No worries, though. Happy Patrick is back after sucking down 4 oz!

Riverwalk

We took advantage of the beautiful weather today and spent the morning at the Naperville Riverwalk. They have an awesome playground and lots to look at along the riverwalk. Finn would probably be happy spending all day there. Mom and dad were very pleased that both boys slept all afternoon!

It's Go Time!

Alright, no more messing around. Dan and I have 7 months until Lou's wedding in Hawaii. That means only 7 months to undo the damage of horrible eating habits we have picked up over the last 9 months. My goal is to lose the 50 pounds I gained while pregnant, and Dan would like to lose about 30. We are going to use the blog to be held accountable for these goals. I will make a post at each 5 pound milestone. I should post a "before" picture of each of us, but I prefer not to have that floating around in cyber space! In the meantime, I am going to think about coming up with some fun rules to make this into a competition...a competition that I most certainly will win!

The Boys

Finn may finally be starting to warm up to Patrick. He is not jealous, and it is not that he doesn't like him, he is just simply uninterested. He absolutely does not want to hold him, but he did have some fun tickling him tonight. Molly, on the other hand, was so excited to come over and meet her new cousin. She jumped at the chance to hold him, but then also became uninterested when she realized that all he does is sleep!

Patrick Russell O'Toole

The newest O'Toole arrived on Monday at 7:50pm. Patrick Russell weighed in at a slim 8lbs 8oz and 20 and 3/4 inches long. He is absolutely perfect. Aside from the part where my epidural became disconnected just as I was approaching 10 cm, labor and delivery went extremely well, and we are so thrilled to finally have Patrick with us!
Finn has not had much of a chance to bond with his little brother yet. We got home from the hospital late last night and Finn went to daycare this morning before Patrick was awake. Hopefully we can get some good pictures today!

Last Day as an Only Child

Today is Finn's last day as an only child (assuming Labor and Delivery doesn't postpone me when I call tomorrow). Check back for updates on how Finn and his little brother are getting along. Hopefully we'll also be able to post some pictures of Patrick from the hospital.
